It’s Our Birthday!

Has it really been a whole year since we moved to our new studio? The time has flown by thanks to our amazing customers. We’d really like to take an opportunity to say a massive, heartfelt THANKS!

What better way to do that than with tea, cake and champagne?

We’re hosting a tea party on Sunday 25th November 2012 from 2pm until 5pm. There will be afternoon tea served on vintage china, cake demonstrations, champagne and a cake competition (if you fancy taking part). It’ll be a chance to meet lots of other like-minded cake lovers and chat about all that cakey stuff that occupies our minds when we’re supposed to be concentrating on something else. (Ooops.)

So! If you’ve visitied us in the studio for a class and are free to join us on 25th November, please leave us a comment below telling us which class (or classes) you’ve been to and what your favourite bit of it was.

We have limited spaces for this party, so if we can’t accomodate everyone who would like to come, we’ll pick as many as we can from names in a hat (or Kitchen Aid mixing bowl) on Friday 9th November 2012. We’ll send you a confirmation email on or just after that day to confirm your place!

We can’t wait to see you!

  7. Hi
I can’t believe it’s been a year! It’s flown by with your help!
My 1st class was the start to finish at your old premises then I attended your business class at the new premises the last one you did before you went on maternity leave.
The contact email you had for me then was incase you need it (still use it)
Anyway what I loved was the friendly and approachable nature of the staff and classes, and of course how well you teach! you’ve helped me do much on my cake journey I really don’t believe another company could have been better!
    Thanks for all your help

  9. Happy 1st birthday in your beautiful studio BDB (I so want to come and work there – lol 😉
I came last weekend and did Cupcakes from start to finish which I thoroughly enjoyed. Catherine was lovely and so helpful. I love the new recipe that was taught, they work much better for my cakes so that’s fantastic! I loved using kitchenaid for the first time so much I went and bought one, I’ve named her Penelope 😉 Being taught how to make perfect buttercream was a-maz-ing and so useful to me as it saves me buying ready done all time (only downfall is I keep tasting it and I don’t even really like buttercream 😉
I plan on doing Start your own business and also garden class – but I might have to wait for them as Xmas pressies and after being tempted by Paul Hollywood on GBBO – think I might fancy a bread class too (but need other two under my belt first)
I had a really lovely day in your gorgeous studio and lunch was dish delish 😉
So thank you very much x

  10. wow – happy birthday to blue door bakery – came to cupcake start to finish way back in feb had a fantastic time and been busy making cakes ever since for family and friends. Loved the day learnt sooooooooooo much – love the website from the shop, tutorials, news, [love seeing the progress of the beautiful babies]
want to book more courses but when i get round to doing this the date is unsuitable for me or you are always fully booked [which goes to show how great you are] – might get family to get me the gift vouchers for xmas/birthday lol !!!! –
would love to join you on 25th november so will keep fingers and legs crossed !!!!!LOL
but whatever happens want to wish all the fantastic team at BDB a big HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY – and wish you all the best for the coming year – you all deserve it ——– you simply are the best.

  11. I came to your cupcake start to finish class on August 15th with my friend Suzy having been bought the day as a birthday gift by my girlfriends. My favourite part was making the sugar paste flowers and finishing the day with a very “can do” attitude toward baking and decorating even though I was a novice! X

  12. Happy 1st birthday, can’t believe it has come round already how time flies.

I have been to a few BBD classes now, and have enjoyed them all – they’re my ‘destress’ treat.

Here’s hoping I can join you in your celebrations.

  13. Congratulations Ladies,

I would love to come to the tea party, you know me I go to the opening of a packet of crisps!!! No in all honesty I love Blue Door bakery, its not just about the learning which you never forget its a lovely day out too and you really know how to look after people.

I have done 5 of your courses and had great support from you Sarah when I was asked to make 100 vintage cakes for a girls 18th giving me a day by day, hour by hour breakdown of how to stay in control.

Thanks for everything and hopefully more to come.

    Simone xx

  14. Happy first birthday (almost)
I would love to come & help celebrate with you. I attended brush embroidery class earlier in the year with the lovely Laura.

  15. Congratulations on your first Birthday! What an exciting year. I have done 2 courses in Sarah’s house and 2 in new premises & am looking forward to start to finish on November 13th. The classes are such fun and inspire me to have a go at things that would have made me run a mile! Also love the fact that you are introducing so many new courses, I’m spoilt for choice! Hope I can come to tea party! xx

  16. Happy Birthday!!

What a lovely idea, well done to you all xx

I’ve been to the start to finish cupcake class, the choctastic class and the business class. I’m hoping for some vouchers for birthday/Christmas so I can decide which to next.

All were fantastically well presented and I’ve meet some lovely ladies along the way too.

I travel by train and have a lovely wander up to your very welcoming studio, where I have a very warm (and genuine) greeting, (which is well worth the early start) and that’s even before I’ve learnt loads of helpful tips and skills! and of course I go away with yummy goodies xx

  17. Whoop Whoop ,Happy Birthday BDB

    I’ve attended and i’m attending:
    1. Cupcakes Start to Finish
    2. How to Start a Cupcake Business
    3. I have a Lucky Dip
    4. Temari Class – Feb 2012

My favourite part is seeing all the small idividual components that you prepared earlier, all come together. Followed by the acomplishment of ‘I did that’!!

I also love the atmosphere & the the girls. Between them & the decor, it’s a very calming place!! Sarah Thanks for you knowledge & openess, your very helpful & you inspire me a great deal.

  18. Hello, I attended your Start to Finish Cupcake Day on the 16th August – which was brilliant.
I’ve really been teaching myself during the last 12 months so it was brilliant to get a Cupcake recipe that works and I’d never attempted to make flowers ( I thought I’d never be able to make them anyway) but with the instruction and tips you gave me I feel so much more conifident and I’m getting adventurous with my colour schemes!
I would love to see you on the 25th – fingers crossed

    Kind Regards
    Chris Watson

I have been to 3 classes now the cupcakes start to finish, the mini cakes class and the chocolate lovers evening class, I am hoping to be able to attend many more. I attended the choctastic and shabby chic classes in the summer and have booked in for the Christmas Cup Cake class. I would love to join you on the 25th x

  32. I came from Lichfield with broken ribs on 23rd November 2010! Cupcake Business Workshop – the great things were the amazing amount of information for setting up your own business but also the techniques to apply to cupcakes which is a totally different application to that of ‘big’ cakes!
Also meetings some lovely girls (who I still keep in touch with!).
I can’t believe it was 2 years ago!
Congrats on the new premises – you’ve worked very hard to achieve this.
