What a week. I’ve had my biggest wedding order yet. I have done a 5 tier cake, 2 tier cake, single tier, 6 mini cakes and 30 cupcakes. Its been so fun. Honestly, enjoyed every minute. Apart from that scary delivery (which was probably my scariest yet) A car full of cake, kids in the back and an hours drive! But we made it (my girls are actually pretty useful to take to keep an eye on the boxes in the boot!)
The top left cake was vanilla sponge, covered in delish chocolate ganache. Topped with a pink peony, white rose and pink graduated open rose. All the flowers you’ll learn on our Perfect wedding Flowers Class.
The top right 2 tier was a dummy cake. Still finished off with matched flowers and gold ribbon.
The cupcakes were chocolate and red velvet. Yum yum!
Again, more pink and white flowers around the main cake with some gold berries and smaller roses.
The mini cakes were sticky toffee cake, chocolate ganache and small pink and white roses on the top. The display plate I bought from asda for just £4.
The huge beast of a cake was so heavy. So heavy in fact I decided to leave it off the cake stand. The bottom 12 inch round tier was 5 inch deep sticky toffee cake. Then there was a 10 inch sticky toffee, 8 inch round by 10 inch high double barrel cake of vanilla and chocolate orange, 6 inch lemon drizzle and 4 inch cookies and cream.
That double barrel tier was huge. It needed to be a real statement centrepiece to fit the heart daisies and the gold writing. It took some ganaching!!
It took 3 days of making flowers and 4 days of baking, ganaching, swirling, piping, sticking, glueing and edge sharpening to make this lot. Happy wedding day Carla and Liam.
I don’t think i’ll ever tire of making beautiful cake tables
