I’ve been counting down the days until this week. My baby sister is getting married on Sunday. Hurrah!! We’ve been talking and planning her wedding cake for months and its finally here. Time to get my bake on!
I made this dessert table last year and I’m still totally in love with it now. Cake decorating dream job right there! I knew I wanted to base my sisters cake on something like this cake table. Only BIGGER!!
So we decided on a 4 tier cake, cupcakes, cake pops, sphere cakes, mini cakes and macarons (If I can master them). Also we thought it would be super cute to provide everyone with a little cookie favour with their name piped on to double up as favours and place names. How exciting! All in a gorgeous colour scheme of grey and white.
Day 1 – Making lavender, ganaching cakes and baking cookies.
I’ve been slowly making white sugar rose flowers for months. Making the most of my sugar flowers I make in all my cake classes, doing them in the right colour so I can use them on her cake.
- Sugar flowers can be made months in advance. Just store them in a cake box, somewhere cool out of sunlight and they’ll be good to go.
I plan on using all my beautiful milk glass cake stands on the display, as well as gorgeous rectangle display platters from Asda.
Day 2 – Ganaching and covering mini cakes, covering the 4 tier cake and adding lustre, more lavender and cake pops
I’ve had a fab busy few days in my cake studio. It feels great to get stuck into a huge wedding cake again as I stopped taking on so many cake orders last year. Loving every minute so far.
